Fun Things to Do at Rodeo Austin

When we think of rodeos, we see cowboys wearing big boots and using cowboy hats. Live rock music, huge mad bulls, the smoky BBQ, and dangerous thrills combined with cotton candy. That conjures up images of a rodeo for us. Rodeo Austin did not let us down!

Rodeo Austin’s Highlights

Rodeo Austin is completely non-profit, which surprised me. The primary objective of the group is to raise money for Texas kids to get college scholarships. Rodeo Austin granted more than $2.5 million in scholarships last year! If it does not make you want to support them, we do not understand what will make you! Listed below are some of our favorites from the Rodeo this year:

Bull Riding

Rodeo Austin’s bull riding is world-class, and the energy and interest appeared. We fell for these competitions as soon as the bull was released. It’s thrilling at the moment, however, it’s also nerve-wracking because we hesitate when something awful might occur to the rider. However, the Bull Riders pushed themselves to the limit with their determination and guts to hold on for the 8 seconds required. Regrettably, this occasion passed so quickly that we wished it had lasted longer.

Live Music

Following the Rodeo, we had the opportunity to see the Struts perform, and they are amazing live. It was our first time viewing the British rock band, and we’re eagerly anticipating seeing them again. Everyone stood and started dancing after they opened with their hit tune Body Talks. Diva Luke Spiller advised us of a cross between Austin Powers and Freddy Mercury. We absolutely loved the Austin live music.

Steer Wrestling

This event was Mano y Mano, Man vs. Cow. The cowboy would chase the cow on his horse at a fantastic speed, then jump off and deal with the animal to the ground, holding him. As he pressed the cow into the ground, you might see the grit in the cowboy’s eyes. This occasion was wonderful; it got our heart racing and our adrenaline hurrying. We’re all interested in the principle of guy vs. animal.

Wild West Show

We had the chance to sit down and see a fantastic Wild West reveal before the Rodeo began. Candidates rode their horses around the arena, carrying out a few of the most amazing tricks we have ever seen. Handstands, turns, and even jumping off the horse and vaulting back on while on the run are all possible. This occasion occurs on the fairgrounds, so take a look before getting in the arena.

Pig Racing

When we arrived at the fairgrounds, we immediately went to the pig racing event. These pigs did not disappoint me. They pour their hearts out and put on an incredible show. It was charming to see the little pigs run. The pigs were racing for their preferred college, as you can see, and the crowd was ecstatic when the UT pig won everything.

BareBack Riding & Saddle Bronc Riding

At first, we planned to choose five of our preferred events, however, this Rodeo was fantastic. Bareback riding was unbelievable. Riders grabbed on tough for life as we know it, attempting to hold on for 8 seconds with no saddle and only rigging to grasp on to. It was the very first occasion we saw, and it stimulated our interest. It made us realize that we had been missing out on the Rodeo for the past 10 years.

Conclusion

Isn’t there much to do? For us, it was a whole day of satisfaction that we would highly advise. However, first, experience Texas’ official sport in the state capital! Every year, Rodeo Austin stages among the very best ProRodeos in the nation, complete with action-packed competitors, a Texas-sized carnival and fair rodeo, shopping, food, and various unique attractions.
