Application Process and Deadlines

Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis and reviewed quarterly.

Application Process

The nanoWorks program follows a two-step application process which takes approximately four months from the initial review to the delivery of conditional approval announcements to applicants. 

Industrial and Institutional partners interested in applying to the nanoWorks program must first jointly submit an Expression of Collaboration (EoC), outlining the project and demonstrating the commitment of the partners to its completion.  EoCs are reviewed by a subset of the nanoWorks Steering Committee and those EoCs receiving approval will be invited to submit a Full Application.  A Full Application consists of three main components: data form, approvals and signatures forms, and grant application.  

The nanoWorks program follows an open call process for submission of EoCs, with a quarterly review  process.  Full Applications submitted to Ingenuity by the deadline are sent for external peer review.  Each proposal is reviewed by at least three independent external expert reviewers, selected by Ingenuity for its business and scientific expertise in the project area. 

Following external review, the recommendations are compiled and reviewed by the Steering Committee at their quarterly meetings.  Successful applicants are approved conditionally, pending receipt of a finalized research agreement signed by both the industrial and institutional partners.
