Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Carbohydrate Science
Established in 2002, based at the University of Alberta and collaborating with the University of Calgary, the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Carbohydrate Science is exploring solutions to global health problems. The Centre is a global leader in pure and applied carbohydrate research. Its multidisciplinary team is dedicated to developing therapeutics, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics and synthetic biological materials that have important medicinal and commercial applications. These new treatments are geared to global infectious diseases such as tuberculosisand cholera and to food-borne pathogens such as Escherichia coli 0157, the pathogen linked to the hamburger disease.
