Dr. Curtis Berlinguette holds the Canada Research Chair in Energy Conversion. His team is recognized for leading the development of ways to harness the sun’s energy as a sustainable and alternative energy source. Curtis’ lab is focused on ways of converting sunlight into electricity, and storing that electricity as fuel so it will be available when the sun isn’t shining. Solar cells are currently too expensive for widespread use, so Berlinguette is developing components for a next-generation solar panel that is more efficient and less expensive.
“The only way we are going to meet large-scale demand for carbon-free energy is by making solar cells that can be painted onto buildings or using roll-to-roll technologies with inexpensive, readily available materials.” Curtis Berlinguette
