Judd Aiken is working to assess the environmental impact of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and other prion diseases. A new link has been proposed between the environment and prion diseases. Aiken’s laboratory team has demonstrated that prions persist in soil and are part of an animal’s diet. Once the levels of prions in soil have been identified, treatments for addressing these contaminants can be targeted.
