S. Hossein Hejazi

2008 Len Bolger Scholarship Recipient

As a leading student energy researcher, Hossein chose to pursue his research at the U of C because of Alberta’s international reputation as a leader in energy innovation. Researchers like Hossein are building on Alberta’s existing strengths by creating technologies that reduce the use of water and energy during extraction and that also process the oil in the ground, or in situ, leaving messy by-products in the ground. Because much of Alberta’s oil reserves are difficult, if not impossible to extract, Hossein is focusing his research on optimizing the flow of oil and water in sandstone that will liberate these lost resources.
