Second Call for Proposals | Innovative Strategic Research Programs in Water Research and Management
The Alberta Water Research Institute [AWRI] is pleased to announce its second call for proposals for innovative strategic research programs in water research and management. Funded by the Government of Alberta through Alberta Ingenuity, the Alberta Water Research Institute’s goal is to enhance the knowledge of water users, managers, industry, policy-makers and consumers, to facilitate policy development and improved water management practices.
This call is an opportunity for the research, industry and stakeholder communities to put forward their ideas on research programs that will help meet the goals and objectives of Water for Life: Alberta’s Strategy for Sustainability, being:
- Safe, secure drinking water supply
- Healthy aquatic ecosystems
- Reliable, quality water supplies for a sustainable economy
Ideally, research proposals will employ an inter-disciplinary approach to providing the knowledge water users, managers, industry, policy-makers and consumers need to help them make informed choices. As such, the research funded by the AWRI must be translated into stakeholder information.
Priority will be given to projects and research teams that pursue new ideas, concepts, processes and/or innovative ways of utilizing existing knowledge, and generating new knowledge to improve the sustainability of Alberta’s water resources.
