Encouraging youth to consider careers in science and engineering and providing professional development opportunities for Alberta teachers.

Alberta Ingenuity supports programs designed to encourage young people to pursue careers in science and engineering. This support covers a spectrum of activities that shape and influence the way science is perceived in contemporary culture, from student-focused camps, to teacher-focused
professional development, to strategic partnerships with community organizations that share Ingenuity’s goal to develop a strong science culture.

Student programs

Alberta Ingenuity offers funding to grassroots initiatives that directly engage the students who will be the scientists and engineers of the future. These early hands-on experiences provide an opportunity for youth to understand the opportunities for pursuing careers in science.

To be considered for funding, programs must:

  • Stimulate interest in science and engineering research among youth
  • Support and encourage youth to explore careers in science and engineering
  • Involve project leaders with a proven track record of creative and excellent program delivery
  • Involve a regional or provincial level of outreach
  • Show an ongoing commitment to building the project over time in Alberta
  • Submit a three-year budget
  • Provide to Alberta Ingenuity a written report and evaluation of the program
  • Recognize Alberta Ingenuity as a program partner

Funding may range from $5000 to $25,000, depending on the scope of the program, number of funding partners, and Alberta Ingenuity profile.

Teacher programs

Ingenuity offers funding to organizations that provide professional development opportunities for teachers, to spark their enthusiasm for and improve their understanding of science.

To be considered for funding, programs must:

  • Increase expertise and support the professional practice of science teachers in Alberta
  • Support and encourage teacher interest, understanding of and enthusiasm for science and engineering
  • Involve project leaders with a proven track record of creative and excellent program delivery
  • Involve a broad regional or provincial level of outreach
  • Show an ongoing commitment to building the project over time in Alberta
  • Submit a three-year budget
  • Provide to Alberta Ingenuity plans for a written report and evaluation of the program
  • Recognize Alberta Ingenuity as a program partner

Funding may range from $5000 to $25,000, depending on the scope of the program, number of funding partners, and Alberta Ingenuity profile.
