The Alberta Ingenuity Fund was established to develop internationally competitive science and engineering expertise and build greater capacity for innovation, particularly in areas with lasting social and economic impact.
The highest calibre of research is supported through an endowment established by the Government of Alberta in 2000. Through this endowment, Alberta Ingenuity is nurturing the discovery of new knowledge and encouraging its application to benefit Albertans and the world.
Alberta Ingenuity’s main objectives include:
- Stimulate research in science and engineering
- Promote the effective use of existing provincial science and engineering resources
- Support Alberta’s science and engineering research facilities
- Minimize duplication and promote efficiency, by encouraging cooperation within science and engineering research
- Encourage young Albertans to pursue careers in science and engineering
